The Belton Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) is joining the Manufacturing Institute in highlighting innovative technologies and processes for younger generations. This marks the seventh year that Belton ISD high school students will tour local companies to learn about modern manufacturing practices, required skills, and career pathways.
This year, Belton EDC is collaborating with several partners for Manufacturing Day festivities, including the City of Belton, Belton Area Chamber of Commerce, Workforce Central Texas, Belton ISD, Temple College, Belltec Industries, CGI, Amazon Drone Delivery, Texas A&M University–Central Texas, Fort Hood, Stratasys Direct Manufacturing, and TRU Homes.
“Manufacturing Day gives us an opportunity to highlight our local industries and their impact on our community. Belton ISD students tour some of our industries and see firsthand the opportunities they offer. Without our partners, this special day would not be possible,” said Warren Ketteman, BEDC Director of Industry Development.
Belton ISD students will tour CGI, Stratasys, Belltec, TRU Homes, and the City of Belton Public Works Department on Thursday, October 15. We extend our sincere appreciation to our local industry partners for opening their facilities to Belton ISD students and providing valuable insight into career opportunities within the manufacturing sector. We are also grateful to Belton ISD for their continued partnership and for providing transportation for participating students.
Following the tours, students will have lunch, provided by Belton EDC, at the Harris Community Center, where they will engage in an “Engineering Challenge.” Students will then participate in breakout sessions featuring stations and activities provided by Temple College, Fort Hood, Workforce Central Texas, and Texas A&M University Central Texas Engineering.
As part of the annual MFG Day festivities, the Belton Mayor and City Council proclaim the first Friday of October, October 2nd, as Manufacturing Day in Belton, Texas. To further celebrate and recognize local manufacturers, the BEDC places advertisements showcasing these companies, organizes a social media campaign, and schedules snow cone truck visits to local industries to show appreciation. Currently, 12 snow cone visits are planned with more than 1,000 industry employees expected to be served.
