MFG Day 2023: Opportunities to recognize and celebrate local manufacturers.
Belton, Texas, September 19, 2023 - The Belton Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) is joining again the National Manufacturing Institute’s efforts to highlight innovative technologies and innovative processes to younger generations. This is the fourth year that Belton ISD high school students will visit companies to learn about their modern technologies and processes, required skills, and career opportunities. More than 275 registered events throughout the U.S. including the ones in Belton, Texas are now listed on the Manufacturing Institute website.
TRU and Stratasys representatives have always supported this initiative and are excited and prepared to host the visits again this year. “The close collaboration we have with the manufacturers, Belton ISD Career and Technology Department and Workforce Solutions of Central Texas has been instrumental to the success of our events. This year we are inviting Temple College to participate and offer interactive experiences to the students,” said Cynthia Hernandez, BEDC Executive Director. During the lunch break sponsored by the BEDC right after the plant tours, students will have the opportunity to access the new Temple College mobile lab truck equipped with different simulators such as a virtual welder, bionics items, and 3D printers. Additionally, Workforce Solutions representatives will make available virtual reality headsets for the students to experience.
As part of the MFG Day festivities, the Belton Mayor and City Council at their Sep 26th meeting will be proclaiming Friday, October 6th, 2023, as Manufacturing Day in Belton, Texas. To further celebrate and recognize local manufacturers, BEDC will place ads showcasing these companies and will schedule snow cone truck visits to the plants to show appreciation and enjoy with them and their teams!
